A person is not saved by the Law, nor is he saved by faith with the Law.

Paul said in Romans 3:31, "Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law."Hence, when we are saved through faith in Jesus, we have not rendered the Law ineffective. Since the Law's requirement is met in us through Christ, the Law hath nothing further to say. Never think that we should add the work of the Law to our faith. No one can simultaneously have faith and attempt to keep the Law, for to do so would be to despise Jesus. It would mean failing to recognize our own utter weakness and sinfulness.
Please read again Galatians 2:16-17: "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid."
The book of Galatians shows us that some people contended that even though a person was justified through faith in the Lord Jesus, it was not enough; they believed he still had to keep the Law. They acknowledged justification in Christ but insisted on the necessity of continuing legal observance.
Paul issued a very strong warning here. If ye seek to be justified in Christ, and simultaneously try to keep the Law, it signals that ye are still a sinner and have not yet been saved. If ye are no longer a sinner, then ye shouldn't need to keep the Law anymore.
In Romans 3, Paul made another clear statement. Verse 28 says, "Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law." This is a conclusive statement. Now it is a matter of faith alone. It hath absolutely nothing to do with the Law. Thank the Lord, Jesus is enough.
When the Bible focuses on faith, it draws attention to God's grace. This shows us that everything cometh by receiving what God hath given. Some enjoy exalting men in their gospel preaching. But if we know the Bible, we shall see that apart from God, humanity is absolutely helpless. Please remember these two sentences: A person is not saved by the Law, nor is he saved by faith with the Law. This mixture of faith and law is the first and most common mistake people make.
