The Lord Who Worked in the Paralyzed Man Is Working in Me Today

In Matthew chapter 9, we see a paralyzed man who could do nothing by himself. Yet there were people who brought him to Jesus. When Jesus saw their faith, He first said,“Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.”
The people expected physical healing, but Jesus addressed a deeper issue first—the forgiveness of sins. This shows us that God’s work does not begin with what is visible, but with the heart and the soul. When sins are forgiven, God’s power can begin to flow into our lives.
The scribes could not believe Jesus’ words, but Jesus then said, “Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.” The paralyzed man believed those words and stood up. Faith is a choice between trusting our own thoughts or trusting the Word of God. When we believe God’s Word rather than our circumstances or feelings, His work becomes evident.
We also face sickness, problems, and limitations in life. In those moments, instead of becoming discouraged, we should come to Jesus—just as the paralyzed man was brought to Him. Though Jesus is not visible, He is alive today. He knows our situation and continues to work in our lives.
Today, let us make this confession:“Lord, I choose to trust Your Word, not my own thoughts. I believe that the Lord who worked in the paralyzed man is working in my life today.”When we stand on that faith, God will surely work.
