Preaching the gospel is truly joyful because lives are changed. When people accept the gospel, those who once lived in sorrow, despair, or sin are transformed.
In Genesis 1, the earth was formless and void, and darkness covered the deep. Many Bible scholars study how long this condition lasted, but the key point is this:the earth could not come out of darkness by itself. When God said, “Let there be light,” there was light—and the darkness fled. This change did not come from the effort or labor of the earth itself.
In the Bible, the earth often represents human beings. No person can drive away the confusion, emptiness, or darkness in their own heart. Some think that if they buy a nice apartment or meet the perfect spouse, their hearts will be full and bright. But even then, the emptiness remains, and the darkness still lingers.Human strength cannot overcome these things.
Christ Has Come—He Made Me New!
In John chapter 4, there is a Samaritan woman. When she was young, she probably dreamed of marrying a wonderful man and living happily ever after. But she ended up marrying and divorcing five times, and now lived with a sixth man.She never planned or desired such a life—it just happened. Each time she resolved not to walk that path again, she found herself repeating the same painful story.
The story of the Samaritan woman reflects all of us.Even today, many people live like her—chasing wrong desires, trapped in darkness, bound by sorrow or fear, unable to escape despite their efforts.
One day, the Samaritan woman went to draw water and met Jesus. She was surprised when He, a Jew, spoke to her and asked for a drink.Their conversation began with a simple request, but soon touched her deepest thirst.
“How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?”Jesus answered, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep; where then do You get that living water?” Jesus said, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. The water that I shall give will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”
Hearing these words, the woman opened her heart to Jesus. As she received His words, something miraculous happened within her—her heart became new.She left her water jar, ran to the town, and shouted:
“Come and see! The Christ has come! He has made me new!”
Receive the Word of God
We all live with different problems—some suffer in body, others in mind, fighting depression, obsession, or despair. But when the Word of God enters the heart, it conquers every sickness—physical or spiritual. It gives us victory over temptation and sin.As we receive God’s Word, joy, gratitude, and hope begin to fill our hearts.
I never knew that believing in Jesus could make me this happy. He has given me laughter, peace, and a love and happiness that nothing in this world can replace. If you are suffering in fear, anxiety, or despair, receive the Word of God.Like the Samaritan woman, your heart and your life will change.Peace will fill your heart, and you will gain the strength to overcome temptation. The light of God will shine into your heart, drive away the darkness, and a bright, new life will begin.
