Today's Devotional

People often say they are good at playing the piano, drawing, or excelling in sports. But it’s rare to hear someone say they are confident in their faith in God. Many born-again believers think, “I don’t have enough faith, so I probably shouldn’t try to do this by faith in God.” They assume, “If I devote myself to prayer and read the Bible more, maybe my faith will grow—and then I’ll be able to live by faith.” But when will that day come? Even after a lifetime, it won’t happen that way.

Every born-again believer has already received the forgiveness of sins by faith. Though we have committed many sins, we possess an incredible faith that believes all those sins were washed away by the blood Jesus shed on the cross. Romans 5:1 tells us that our walk with God is founded on being justified by faith.

To be justified by faith is an extraordinary truth. How can someone who has lied, stolen, and lived in filth be made clean? How can a sinner be completely freed from sin and become righteous? This is possible only by faith. No matter how defiled a person may be, they can be made clean—and there is no other way but faith.

Romans 5:1 is not speaking to someone who merely says, “I am a sinner,” but to the one who believes in Jesus and has been made righteous, whose sins have been washed as white as snow. By being justified through faith, the wall of sin that once stood between us and God has been completely removed. Because of this, we can have peace with God. When we come boldly before Him, God lives and works within us.

Sadly, many believers don’t think this way. “The pastor must live by faith because he always prays and reads the Bible—but I’m not like that.” That’s not true. From the very day we received the forgiveness of sins, God made it possible for each of us to live by faith. But Satan deceives us. When he whispers, “You don’t have faith,” we accept it. From that moment on, we become people who believe we lack faith, and we are unable to take steps forward by faith.

However, whenever we rely on God in the face of any problem, He gives hope and strength to our hearts. God works, and situations unfold beautifully. In the process, our faith grows. When we believe in God, He solves our problems—but when we assume we lack faith, we worry and resort to human methods. As a result, we end up living a life unrelated to faith. Over time, this leads to becoming a formal, powerless Christian who cannot step forward in faith.

When we read the Bible, we see that wherever Jesus went and whoever He met, He spoke words of hope. At the wedding in Cana of Galilee, when the wine ran out, He turned water into wine. To the man who had been sick for 38 years, He said, “Rise, take up your bed, and walk.” To the blind man, He told him to wash in the Pool of Siloam. To Martha and Mary, He said, “Your brother will rise again.” The tragedy was not in Jesus’ words—but in people refusing to accept them. When His words were received as they were, how amazing were the works that followed!

In the church, we learn not to live according to our own thoughts or judgments, but according to God’s Word. The Bible tells us that since we have been justified by faith, we should enjoy peace with God. When we live in peace with Him, He helps us in times of fear, and even in difficulties within our marriages.

Even after being justified through the forgiveness of sins, many people remain stuck thinking, “I have no faith.” When they try to take a step forward by faith, they sit back down again, saying, “I don’t have faith—I can’t do this by faith.” They stop sharing the gospel, stop giving offerings, and continue retreating. They live as though God does not exist, even though He is with them.

Many believers agree with Satan’s accusation: “You don’t have faith.” But this is absolutely not true. We were justified without paying anything, because God justified us through the death of Jesus. And God did not stop there. Out of love, He made us righteous and now walks with us in peace. He gives us peace of heart, supplies what we lack when we try to preach the gospel, and opens the way for us. Often, when we sent missionaries around the world, we had nothing prepared—but God was with us. Today, our mission is actively working all around the world because of His presence.

“Therefore, being justified by faith…” (Romans 5:1)

How amazing it is that we have been made righteous by believing in Jesus! Anyone who has been justified can enjoy peace with God. Don’t leave even small problems unattended—simply rely on God. We are weak, and we may fail or make mistakes, but that does not rebuild the wall between us and God. The blood Jesus shed has already cleansed all our sins.

When we believe according to the Word of God, He works just as He has promised. All we need to do is believe that we, who have been justified, can live in peace with God. Then a life of peace with Him will follow. If we try to achieve peace with God through our own efforts, we will never succeed. In every situation, a believer can have peace with God. God loves us. Because He has made us righteous through the blood of Jesus, we can always believe that “God lives and works within me,” and step forward with the faith that “God is helping me.” When we live this way, anyone can become a person of God filled with His power.
