Exodus 25:10 “And they shall make an ark of shittim wood”

Of all the articles of the tabernacle, God said to make the ark of the covenant first. The ark of the covenant is a box made from shittim wood (acacia wood) and covered with pure gold. The cover for the ark of the covenant is the mercy seat, and the mercy seat was covered with two cherubims of gold. Inside the ark of the covenant, God said to put the two tablets of stone, which had the 10 commandments engraved, Aaron’s rod that budded, and the golden pot of manna.

In the English Bible, the ark of the covenant is called an “ark.” The word “ark” appears 3 times in the Old Testament. Noah’s ark in Genesis is also called an “ark.” And in Exodus 2, the ark of bulrushes which carried Moses is also called an “ark.” The place where people could avoid the judgment of God in Noah’s time was the ark, which was covered with pitch inside and out. What these “arks” have in common is that they have a deep connection with salvation. The meaning of “ark” is salvation, and it represents Jesus Christ.

When this world was judged with the flood, the people who entered in the ark were safe. Moses, who was in the ark of bulrushes, survived safely. All of us have no choice but to be destroyed, but if we are in Jesus Christ, we can avoid the judgment and gain life. The “ark” in Noah’s ark, the ark of bulrushes, and the ark of the covenant is telling us the fact that those who enter in Jesus Christ gain salvation, regardless of whether they are good or evil.
