Many people want to show Jesus, but they also want to show off themselves. They want to give glory to God, but they also want to give glory to themselves. But Jesus, the true servant of God, came to earth in the lowliest form. So when we look at Jesus Christ, we have to be able to see the image of God, not his humanly form. Christians must not decorate themselves with their beauty or their precious things or their flesh. When unbelievers look at Christians, the unbelievers must be able to find Christ in Christians.
But so many people believe in Jesus for their own glory. Jesus said, “You cannot serve God and money.” “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” If God receives the glory and you also receive glory for yourself, then that is not the true way for believers.
John the Baptist said, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” The true way for Christians is the life of lowering yourself to give glory to God and to sacrifice yourself. But many people believe in Jesus for their own glory. They believe in Jesus for riches or honor. The way of being satisfied with a position or leadership role is not the true way of a Christian. Even though he was God’s son, Jesus gave up glory when he came to earth, and he came in the lowest and most pitiful image.
