The first thing you see when you pull back the door of the tabernacle and enter in is the altar of burnt offering. The altar is covered in bronze, and it shows that Jesus Christ received the judgment that we should have received. The judgment was ended on the cross. The judgment of the cross by itself is enough to cover any sins we commit. In the days of the Old Testament, the blood of the lamb that was spilled on the horns of the altar was enough to wash anyone’s sin. The blood that Jesus Christ shed on the cross is enough to wash our sins.

When faith that the blood of Jesus Christ forgave our sins enters our hearts, we have become righteous. But even though we know about Jesus Christ’s blood, we have a guilty conscience from the sins we commit every day, so we are unable to rely on only the blood of Jesus and say that we are righteous, but we consider ourselves to be sinners. Even though we know that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, the power of sin is magnified and seems greater than the power of the cross, so we think we are sinners and we fall into pain and guilt.

When we believe in our hearts that the blood of Jesus has forgiven all our sins, then the sin that is ruling our hearts can be driven out. We are not able to drive out the power of sin in our hearts by trying hard to live according to the word of God and not sinning. When we receive by faith the fact that all our sins have been perfectly resolved on the cross, then sin can no longer lift its head, and the righteousness of Christ will come and fill our hearts.
