Leviticus 1:8-9 “And the priests, Aaron’s sons, shall lay the parts, the head, and the fat, in order upon the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar: but his inwards and his legs shall he wash in water: and the priest shall burn all on the altar, to be a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord.”
The head and the fat, the inwards and the legs had to all be burned in order for it to be a sacrifice that God was happy with. This is not saying we have to burn a chunk of meat, but it means the desires of our flesh have to become ashes. The “head” is talking about the thoughts and knowledge of man, the “inwards” is talking about your own experiences, the philosophy you have lived with till now, or your opinions. If these things are not completely burned, God cannot come into our hearts as our Lord and work. This is what we must know.
In order for it to become an offering that God will happily accept, the head, legs, fat, and inwards of the burnt offering has to be burned. The Lord Jesus’s will was totally broken before God’s will and he became the offering. Just like these, all the things we do well, all our smartness, our good things, our experiences, thoughts, etc. all the desires of our flesh must be burned and taken out.
