When we look at the lamb that shed its blood on the altar and burned, when we see its blood being poured under the altar, we can see Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who died on the cross. The first thing God did was pour his grace on us so we could be forgiven of our sins. God had to do 100% of the work of washing our sins for us to perfectly receive the grace of salvation. Not even 1% of our effort or hard work is included in the work of saving us. Salvation is only 100% fulfilled through the grace of God.
Today, many people do not understand the true meaning of grace, and they are trying again and again to receive grace. They try to receive grace by praying a little more, trying a little harder, or volunteering more. But as they do those things, instead of receiving grace, they are getting farther and farther away from grace.
Before I received salvation, I also thought that I had to work hard at something in order to have a good spiritual life. But I discovered that the harder I tried, the deeper I was sinking into sin. One day, I discovered that I could not deal with my sins on my own. So I gave up on trying. And that was when I was able to be freed from sin by God’s free grace for the very first time.
