Every time we go out before God, we should never rely on the things we have done well. We should not go out depending on how we offered money, or prayed, or how we were faithful Christians, or we helped someone. We must go out looking at the blood of the lamb that suffered for us. We must throw away all the good things we have done that are filling every corner of our hearts, and we must fill our hearts with the blood of the lamb. With that blood, we should go out to God.
Jesus’ thoughts and desires were all burned under the cross and he only established the will of God. In the same way, God accepts us when all our thoughts and desires have been burned. Our flesh is not good enough to offer as a sacrifice, so a lamb was offered in our place. We must go forward boldly to God with the blood and ashes of that lamb, and that is when we can please God.
All the judgment and wrath toward us that was piling up in God’s heart, God poured it all on the lamb. The place that allows us to go out to God with boldness is the altar. It is the cross of Christ.
