Tabernacle Lectures (10) The Priest’s Clothes

The priest’s gown is made of the same linen as the tabernacle courtyard. This means the righteousness we have to put on when we go out before God has to be the same as the righteousness that Jesus Christ has. Because it is impossible for us to go to heaven by living a good life, it is telling us to go with the righteousness of Jesus Christ.

It is written in Romans 10:4, “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.” In other words, we do not achieve righteousness through our efforts, but Jesus Christ forgave all our sins by dying on the cross, and he fulfilled righteousness. The truth is that, by believing that Jesus has made us righteous by being nailed on the cross and dying, we take on the righteousness of God.

Today people say that they believe that Jesus died on the cross, but they do not believe Jesus made them righteous by his death, so they feel afraid and do not dare to say they are righteous before God.

The thing the Bible wants to tell us is Jesus Christ was nailed on the cross and died to fulfill righteousness. This means now we can go boldly out before God through believing Jesus “has made us righteous.” Just like how the linen curtains that surrounded the tabernacle were the same as the clothes of the priest, the righteousness we have is now the same as the righteousness of Jesus Christ, so God can accept us.
