In Hebrew, the word “almond tree” sounds similar to the word “to protect.” The word “almond” carries the meaning of “to protect.” Like how the shepherd protects the sheep with a cane, it means God is protecting us. The tabernacle itself represents Jesus Christ, and the lampstand in the tabernacle also signifies Jesus Christ.

God said to make the bowls on the shaft of the lampstand “like almond blossoms.” Like how the lampstand lights up the darkness with its light, this means that Jesus Christ, who is the light, is protecting us. Jesus is endlessly protecting our hearts while we are alive.

When the prodigal son left his father, he was poor and starving. When he returned to his father, he was able to enjoy all his father’s riches. When we look at Jesus Christ, who is the light, and think about the Lord, the darkness disappears and light comes upon us, even if we do not labor to kick out the darkness.
