Tabernacle Lectures (117) The showbread

The thing that becomes the biggest problem in our spiritual life is our flesh. Our flesh eats and wants a peaceful and comfortable life. Whenever we want to walk the path of faith in God, our flesh tries to lead us in the opposite direction of the Holy Spirit’s will.

Galatians 5:17 “For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh.”

The Holy Spirit dwells in the born-again children of God, but if they are carried away by their fleshly desires, they cannot receive the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The fleshly desires inside me may look like nothing, but when those desires strongly pulled my heart, I was dragged by those fleshly desires with no resistance.

Romans 8:13 “but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.”

The Bible says you cannot overcome these desires with humanly strength. We can overcome them with the power of the Holy Spirit who lives in us. We can be free from our flesh when we receive the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
