Exodus 25:23-24 “Thou shalt also make a table of shittim wood… and thou shalt overlay it with pure gold.”

All the instruments of the tabernacle—like the altar of burnt offering, the altar of incense, the ark of the covenant, and the boards that hold up the tabernacle—are made of acacia wood. Acacia wood, which is shittim wood, represents Jesus Christ.

When God made the altar, he said to make it out of acacia wood, but cover it with bronze. Bronze represents judgment. Jesus Christ took the judgment for us. He followed the will of God and received the judgment and wrath of God, which we should have received, on his body.

After you pass the altar and the water laver, and once you enter inside the tabernacle, there is the table of showbread, the altar of incense, and the ark of the covenant. These were all made of the same acacia wood, but instead of being covered with bronze, God said to cover them with gold. This represents Jesus Christ who was covered with the glory of God after he suffered for us and received the judgment in our place.
