Exodus 25:24-25 “And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, and make thereto a crown of gold round about. And thou shalt make unto it a border of an hand breadth round about, and thou shalt make a golden crown to the border thereof round about.”
After the table of showbread is made from acacia wood, it is covered with gold, and then a crown of gold is wrapped around it. The reason why they put a crown of gold around the table of showbread after it is covered with gold is to keep the gold in place so it does not fall off, so that the acacia wood does not appear at all. Gold represents the glory of God, and that gold covered the acacia wood of the table of showbread. In the same way, God’s power is inside Jesus Christ, and it has covered and overlaid all the things of the flesh.
When the acacia wood was covered with pure gold, the image of the acacia wood was hidden. And then the crown of gold was wrapped all around it, so that it was even more firmly covered. When the unattractive acacia wood was covered with pure gold, it became a dazzling table of showbread. In the same way, our weaknesses are covered by the precious power of God, so we become precious workers of God.
We must remember the fact that the glory and power of God which covers Jesus Christ is covering the Christians who have received salvation.
