Our spiritual lives have to stand strong on the bronze sockets. Satan accuses us before God when we sin or make mistakes. “This is how you are, so how can you do the work of God?” he says and he condemns us. So when our actions are good, our faith stands, but when we make mistakes or sin, Satan accuses us, and our faith loses balance and can only be shaken. So where should our faith stand so we are not shaken and we can be stable? The bronze sockets represent Jesus Christ who received the judgment on the cross for us.
We are people who can sin and make mistakes, but when we stand on top of the Lord who received the judgment for us, our faith does not shake. Because even though we are weak, have sinned, and made mistakes, those sins have already been judged on the cross. It means those sins are dead and have lost their power, so they cannot shake our faith.
The sins that Satan accuses us of are also sins that have been judged by Jesus Christ’s blood. So those sins cannot condemn us. They cannot damage the relationship between us and God. Jesus Christ received the judgment for all our sins on the cross. No matter what sin it is, there is no problem. If our faith stands on top of our will or determination or good actions, then Satan can easily break down our faith. But if we believe in the power of the cross of Jesus Christ who received the judgment for us, and if our faith stands on top of that, then it can never be shaken.
