Exodus 25 talks about building the tabernacle. In chapter 25 verse 1, the Lord commanded the children of Israel to bring an offering, and with that offering, “let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them” (Exodus 25:8).
God wanted to dwell among the Israelite people. But God who is holy cannot dwell with the large group of Israel who had a lot of sin, so he told them to build him a sanctuary so he can live among them. Of course, these words are not just for the Israelite people. The truth is God wants to live in our hearts. But if we have sin in our hearts, he cannot dwell there. So he says to make a “holy place” in our hearts where he can live.
God called Moses to Mount Sinai, gave him the tablets of stone, which had the 10 commandments, and showed him the tabernacle in heaven. Moses was on the top of Mount Sinai for 40 days. He came down with the two tablets of stone which God had made in his hands, and the tabernacle in heaven in his heart.
