Exodus 33:3 “for I will not go up in your midst, lest I consume you on the way, for you are a stiff-necked people.”

God could no longer go with the people of Israel who were deep in sin. So he made the tabernacle so he could dwell in the midst of the Israelites who had sin. In other words, the thing that possessed all the conditions for God to dwell with them was the tabernacle. Outside the tabernacle was the courtyard, and outside the courtyard were the Levites who lived there, so those who sinned wouldn’t dare to come inside the tabernacle. God made it so there was no discomfort for him to dwell there.

God had to make us righteous in order to dwell in us. So Jesus Christ came to earth to make us righteous, and he was nailed on the cross and died. Jesus Christ perfectly accomplished our redemption, so we could become righteous forever. Like how the tabernacle made it possible for God to dwell in the midst of the Israelite people, through Jesus God has no discomfort in living inside us. So when God sees born-again saints, they are holy, righteous, and flawlessly perfect.

Today people say that they believe in Jesus, but they are unable to realize the fact that Jesus died on the cross so “He made me righteous. He made me holy. Jesus made it comfortable for God to dwell inside me.” So their hearts are in darkness. True faith is accepting the fact that Jesus made me righteous so God could dwell in my heart comfortably.
