After the altar of burnt offering was made with acacia wood, God said to cover it with bronze. The things of the tabernacle were made of acacia wood, but some of those things were covered with bronze, and some were covered with gold. Acacia wood points to Jesus Christ, and the bronze points to the judgment that Jesus Christ received for us. Gold is speaking about Jesus taking part in God’s glory after he received that judgment.

After Jesus was nailed on the cross, died, and was resurrected, he met the disciples, but Thomas was not there. And when Thomas came, the disciples told him Jesus had resurrected and they had met him. But Thomas said, “Unless I see the scars of the nails in his hands, and put my fingers there, and put my hands in his side, I won’t believe.” Several days later, the Lord appeared and showed Thomas his wounded scars. When Jesus resurrected, he could have easily removed all the scars from the nails and the spear and healed all the wounds in his body. But the reason he just kept them was to leave evidence that he received the judgment for us.

When we receive the judgment of God, Satan will accuse us before God with the sins we have committed. And when we have nothing to say, Jesus will appear and show the evidence that he received the judgment for us. He will show the scars of the spear in his side, and the scars of the nails in his hands. He will testify that there is no need for us to receive the judgment again. In other words, Jesus resolved all of our sins by his death on the cross, and he resurrected to make us righteous. And to testify that, he is holding the marks of that judgment in his body.
