Today many people are unable to realize the true meaning of grace, and work hard to do something in order to receive grace, so they are getting further and further away from grace. In reality, those who receive grace did not receive it because they did something well or worked hard. True grace is receiving something for free with none of our effort or hard work included at all.

In the Bible, the picture of someone being saved appears in several places, and they are all the same. We see they are saved by receiving grace, without paying any price. If you look at 1 Kings 5, Captain Naaman was healed from leprosy. Leprosy represents sin. Captain Naaman was a leper, but he went to the Jordan River and washed his body seven times and became clean. This is talking about us who were in pain because of sin, but we were cleansed from sin.

After he was healed from his leprosy, Captain Naaman went to Elisha and tried to give him several presents. But Elisha refused to accept any gifts. The reason Elisha could not accept the gifts is to show us that we receive the forgiveness of sins without paying any price. It is talking about receiving the forgiveness of sins freely by grace. God wants to give us this great grace for free.
