Satan puts this thought in us: that if we boldly go to God after we sin, we will be numb to sin and sin even more. In order to stop sinning, what we need is not our hard work or effort or determination. We must go forward to Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 4:15-16 “For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

If the altar is where all our sins are washed and cleansed, then the laver is where our hands and feet are cleansed. “God, I am this kind of a person. But all these sins have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ.” Our relationship between us and God must always be perfectly maintained with this faith. Satan’s goal is to make us sin, make us have a distant relationship with God, and make us fall into guilt and fear. That is when we must go boldly to the throne of grace.
