The bronze laver was made for the priests to wash their hands and feet. The fact that they washed their hands and feet is telling us that their hands and feet became dirty as they moved around. If the priests’ hands and feet did not become dirty when they gave the offerings, then they would have no need to wash their hands and feet, and there would be no need for the bronze laver, either.
The way for us to be free from sin is for Jesus Christ to live in our hearts and work inside us. There is no other way than for the words of Christ to dwell inside us. No matter how deeply anyone may fallen into sin, once he receives the forgiveness of sins and the words of Jesus Christ dwell in him and the spirit of Jesus Christ dwells in him, he can be free from sin.
It is not about trying hard to be free from the sins we committed that had caused us pain. As we remember and meditate on the Lord who died on the cross for us, and as we look at Him, the Lord overcomes our thoughts of wanting to commit sin for us. When that happens, then the evil thoughts inside our hearts die off, and we naturally do good things and receive the guidance of the Lord Jesus.
