Exodus 25:31 “You shall also make a lampstand of pure gold; the lampstand shall be of hammered work. Its shaft, its branches, its bowls, its ornamental knobs, and flowers shall be of one piece.”
Once you pass the laver and enter the tabernacle, there is the table of showbread on the right side, and the lampstand on the left side. The altar of incense is placed in front. The table of showbread represents Jesus Christ, who is the bread of life. The altar of incense stands for Jesus Christ, who is interceding for us. The lampstand teaches us Jesus Christ is our light.
There are many lights in this world, but there is no light that can brighten our hearts. People see and live with these bright lights through the flesh, but their hearts are covered in darkness. So there are many people who do not know why some things happen to them when they run into them and they do not know what to do to find life, and so they live in darkness. It was the same way when Jesus was on earth.
Many lights were on in the temple of Jerusalem at that time. Those lights radiantly lit up the temple in Jerusalem, but it could not light up the hearts of the people inside the temple. So the hearts of the priests, scribes, and Pharisees that went in and out of the temple were in darkness. So they could only plot to kill the Lord Jesus, who is the light in the temple.
